'This model, in red and cream, good for almost 60mph, owned in 1966 for £25'
Owned from about 1967 this was a 350cc single. Note the fishtail silencer and adjustable rear suspension. Unfortunately I crashed into a car one night and it was wrecked. Sad, it had such lovely chrome mudguards which I polished beautifully
Owned from 1968 to 1970, this classic British bike was good for the legendary "ton" (100mph). cost me £202, always remember that because its on the number-plate.
This around 1971, I am about 23 years of age, the car is probably older. Unfortunately my mother never could use a camera so I am only just in the picture.
This one had a radio. Very smart for 1973
1975-76 My first two litre model, and with my shades, I am one cool character'
E is for Executive. This one had cloth upholstery, and Radiomobile radio with electric aerial. Date is around 1977, photographed at Syon House, Middlesex
January 1979 and Higgsy deserts Ford for a sporty French hatchback
Higgsy takes leave of his senses in November 1980 shelling out over £3,000 for the ultimate money-waster. A 4.2 litre automatic with a straight six engine that drank a gallon of fuel every 14 miles. At £1.33 a gallon in those days. He manages to run it for 10 months before saying a sad farewell to such luxuries as power steering, electric windows, red leather upholstery, central door locking...
A return to sanity in September 1981 as Higgs demonstrates his love for the Cortina by purchasing this lovely ex-reps model complete with vinyl upholstery for £1,779
Three litre V6, Ford Granada Ghia. Purchased June 1982 this nice model in metallic gold reminds us of those great Sweeney days with Jack Regan crime-busting across old London town..."give it some wellie!
As we move into middle-age, 1989 sees the purchase of the epitome of the middle-classes automobile, a Rover. As grey as the weather. This one was only two years old. I had never owned a car with no MOT certificate before.
1994 - Was visiting friends in Dorset saw this great car - 3 litre V6 automatic, air con,CD, electric sunroof, windows and seats, cruise control. Bought it that weekend. Owned it for 12 years and been a great car
2008 - After twelve years with the same car and retirement looming, spent loadsa dosh on this turbo three litre 4x4, air con,CD, electric windows, steering, heated seats, cruise control, sat nav, all leather, DVD movie player - pity about the environment!
