Adelaide was Willie’s mother. Along with Willie she had eight other children according to John Hood’s tree. Her maiden name shows where Willie’s middle name comes from.
In the 1851 census we see Adelaide at 20, living in New Church St. Westminster.
In the 1881 Census we see Adelaide, a 49-year old Dressmaker and her son Herbert, age 10. They are living at 143-144 Drury Lane. The three other children seen on the 1871 Census do not appear. Her husband Edward Higgs died in 1881.

Adelaide’s marriage certificate is showing as no profession though her father was a plumber.
